Brochures will be available in area schools the first week in March or download an application and medical release/consent form here. Print off forms and send in with payment. Applications are processed when payment is received on a first come basis. After applications have been received and processed, we will send out a confirmation letter.
Financial assistance is available based on need. Please print off the need-based scholarship form and return with your application materials by April 15th, 2009. Please include a check for at least $45 at this time.
Transportation: We encourage car pooling whenever possible. If you need help finding
others in your area who might be interested in car pooling, please email us at

Entering 1st or 2nd Grade
Wild Wonderers
Welcome to the wild world of wonder! Little ones are filled with such excitement about the natural world, and they carry with them a spirit of DISCOVERY! This camp is designed with this sense of Discovery and Excitement in mind! Campers will spend time learning and exploring the natural world through adventure hikes, nature games, crafts, and plenty of hands-on exploration activities related to plants, animals, geology, and beginning wilderness awareness.
Two-day Camp for 1st Grade: June 8 - 9 @ Luther College
Three-day camp for 2nd Grade: June 10 - 12 @ Luther College
Entering 3rd - 6th Grade
Adventurers
Campers will spend each week learning and exploring the beauty and diversity of our natural world. Each week students will participate in two courses designed to engage them in hands-on, discovery-oriented learning about their environment. Topics may include: wetland habitats, woodland ecology, tracking, wilderness survival, prairie and plant exploration, nature crafts, and more! Students will hike, canoe, play adventure games, and explore the natural areas of NE Iowa!!
For students entering the 5th and 6th grade, there will be an optional campout on Thursday nights!

This week is a time for heading out into the Wild! Learn about the natural world through hands-on activities and fun out-of-doors experiences. This exciting week will be a time to fine-tune your naturalist skills through environmental monitoring and fieldwork! Practice your wilderness skills and experience fascinating moments with wild critters! Bring your sense of adventure, river shoes, and get ready for a wet and exciting expedition!

"The Edible Earth"
Food Camp for students entering 2nd - 5th Grade
Grow, taste, and cook! Food is the fuel for our bodies and minds. Learn about how the growing and production of food affects our world and our health. Through hands on activities, food tasting parties, visits to local farms and participation in food preparation and collection students will learn about the various intricacies of the fuel that sustains us! We will visit local farms and gardens. Travel through history learning about hunting, gathering, and agriculture with hands on activities and games, cooking, and eating!

"It's All About Power"
Energy Camp for students entering 6th - 8th Grade
Build, Create, and Explore ! Visit “energy” farms, make hydrogen fuel cell cars, solar cars, cook in a solar oven, tour “off-grid” homes, and learn how the power of the sun, wind, and human ingenuity can help create a bright future for energy use! During this electrifying and fun-filled week, students will participate in hands-on activities related to energy use and energy production, while viewing first hand how folks in our area create and use energy.

"Survival"
Survival Camp for students entering 5th - 8th Grade
Shelter, Water, Food, Fire and Fun! Learn basic survival techniques, wilderness awareness, and try your hand at staying in the wild! Students will learn how to make natural cordage, build primitive shelters, find "wild" food, and build primitive fires. Learn the various survival techniques of our ancestors and how these skills teach us about our connectedness to the earth. Camp includes a Thurday overnight campout.
